  • I'm Not Lazy Because I Don't Wear Makeup

I am lazy because I choose to wait until the last minute to do my laundry.
I am lazy because sometimes I would prefer to go out rather than cook.
I am lazy because it really feels good to get that extra 5 minutes sleep..

I am not lazy because I don't wear makeup.

I couldn't help but laugh when I heard someone tell me that. After hearing it, I noticed here and there on the internet - I would find one or two people who were dead set that it could be the only reason.

So, for those who want to know why I don't wear makeup regularly:

    •  I believe that makeup should look somewhat natural, but if I feel I don't need it that day, why should I waste it? From what I've heard, makeup sure leaves a empty wallet.
    • I do not like the feel of makeup (along with lotion and other products) I do not have allergies, I am just not fond.
    • I've known many women who become "dependent" on makeup. They cannot leave the house without it. A friend of mine takes 30 minutes to get her makeup on... to work out. No she is not looking to get a guy or anything like that. She just feels that no makeup = looks like crap. I wouldn't say all women have that mindset, but it has become a "need"
    • My husband hates makeup, so if I'm not doing it for me or him... who else would I be doing it for? Some men in general do not like makeup, some love it!

    When do I wear makeup?

    • To draw away from a huge blemish if I know I'm going to a special event
    • To hide dark - draped eyes from a solid night of crying
    • Halloween - enough said.

Now, not everyone has the same personal standards as myself, that's why they are personal. However, I can't stand it when someone assumes that I don't take care of myself, that I'm lazy or that I don't know how to apply, if I don't wear makeup. I do congratulate those who feel pride in their mascara, foundations and powders!

Do you agree with me? Do you go pretty often without makeup or do you wear it anytime you leave the house?

I can leave my house with or without make up. I don't wear it sometimes, because I'm lazy actually lol. But the times, I do wear it, it's for ME. Because I like applying or doing something fun with my eyes, and not for any guy or girl.

Kudos for not feeling the need to wear make up though. I never tell people they're being lazy if they don't wear make up. It's something that's not for everyone. If some people just choose not to wear it, so be it!

I wear makeup once in a blue moon. :)

  • phuck_diz_shiz@xanga

Makeup is expensive - especially if you're one of those chicks that buys everything* from MAC

  • neekersha@xanga

I only wear make-up for special occasions but never everyday or on a regular basis. I feel it is also necessary to conceal blemishes or dark circles and to also achieve a flawless complexion.

  • MochaSprinkle@xanga

I always wear concealer... *always*. I have hereditary dark under eye circles. So no matter if I've had 10 hours of sleep or 2 hours of sleep I always look completely exhausted and zombie-ish when I'm not. And trust me, being told every day by nearly everyone that "you look tired" really takes a toll on one's emotions/self esteem. Sometimes I'll do other eye contouring makeup but it's all in an effort to make me look more awake/alert than I currently look.

I like makeup but I try not to wear it because even with my dark circles and stuff I just don't care. I think it's for special occasions plus it's not very good for your skin

  • vixen_with_a_cause@xanga

As much as I love make-up I also think it's important for every girl to feel comfortable in her own skin without it. Girls who don't wear it as much shouldn't be considered lazy, but a confident inspiration! Thank you for this post, and remember girls, make-up should be fun and express who you are; it is not a necessity and you should never feel any less beautiful without it!

makeup isnt evil either.. i wear mascara or eyeliner on a daily basis if i rmr to do it but i'm not dependent on it ( i realize there are people who are though.. my best friend puts on eyeliner/mascara as soon as shes out of the shower even if all shes gonna do is study in her room.. i'm trying to get her out of that). i never wore makeup until college and yeah its a personal choice but i say don't knock it until you give it a shot. another friend of mine hates make up (and makes sure i know it every).. its not bad to not want to look like i care about myself. just keep it natural and appropriate.

  • nepenthium@xanga

i have respect for those who don't wear makeup.

  • Victoriamisu@xanga

i never wear makeup >< i AM too lazy to put it on and take it off hahaaa
i wear it only for professionally done photos with real photographers for high-res photos haha, or a little bit of lipstain when i go out with some girls or on a date. coral maybe, or bloody red :)

but other than that....for anything else i can't stand makeup n my face =\

  • brokenheartsandlastgoodbyes@xanga

i'll wear make up sometimes. but honestly, i don't bother with it. my skin is oily so make up tends to run off, and honestly, i don't see the need in re-applying it through-out the day. i'll wear some concealer and powder, and occasionally mascara but otherwise i don't really care.

  • PollyxNoel

agree. i am sans make up too. do it just for dramas, job interviews and that sort of things.

  • nuffaH@xanga

I love makeup, and most of the time when I go without it's because I'm lazy.  Haha.  However, I am in no way dependent on it.  I put on makeup for me, because I like it.  But if I'm tired and want to sleep in an extra 10 minutes, then au naturel it is!

I don't judge a person's worth (or laziness) on whether or not they wear makeup.  Do what you like. :)

  • xraindropsonroses@xanga

I do leave the house without makeup fairly often. I actually enjoy doing my makeup though, and it only takes me 5 minutes max!

  • Cho_0705@xanga

I rarely leave the house without make up on, but I prefer a really natural =]

  • ninaNOTsimone@xanga

If you are naturally beautiful then makeup isn't necessary. Although, it can hide blemishes, define your eyes, ect.. which is why I love the stuff. I'm not so insecure that I can't leave the house with no makeup on, but I do feel self conscious going out knowing that I have a huge red spot that I haven't covered up.

I agree with you when you say that makeup should look natural. I know way too many girls who think that caking on orange foundation is attractive. =/
  • Wenglish@xanga

I can't leave the house without it! I wish I was as comfortable as you in my own skin :)

  • anotherdreamwasted_onyou@xanga

The friend you described, I know how she feels and I wish I didn't I'm jelous of you being comfortable without makeup, good for you!

  • disorderedpersonality@xanga

I very rarely wear serious makeup; SPF 15 moisturizer and lip balm are all that touch my face most days, occasionally a quick swipe of eyeliner or mascara if I'm going out but nothing more. I don't see the need to fake myself up everyday, I have more fun things to spend money on and I like being able to sleep in that much longer than my sisters lol.

  • seekingzephyr@xanga

I usually wear makeup but I'm not dependent on it. I rarely get a decent amount of sleep and I use mineral foundation to disguise my bags/tiredness and eyeliner&mascara to open my eyes. Makeup helps brighten the face when you don't have the time to get that natural glow.

  • anonymous

I wear make-up because it makes me feel happy and confident. I am able to leave my house without it, yet I prefer being made up. When I was in high school girls could get pregnant, but if she wore
make-up, it was major news! Girls wore fake nails and hair, but if you
wore make-up you were looked down upon. No one could tell I wore make-up
because people mistake make-up for being obvious. Yet, it can give a
natural effect. I suppose it is all in the magic of make-up.  I love make-up because I can play it down or play it up to my out-fit. It is an accessory. It shouldn't be made into a big deal.

  • IndigoInkBlot@xanga

I only wear small amounts of it when I have a blemish to hide. Once every 4 monthes or so I'll put on mascara just to remind my self I hate it. xD I dont feel that I need it and I simply pay attention to what colors I wear for clothing to bring out my natural features. When I wear makeup I feel stifled and contrained. I know for some people that isn't the case and Im glad for them ~ they should go ahead with it. For myself however, I prefer to do without.

  • LEW_for_Life@xanga

I'm with you. I don't wear makeup, because I don't feel the need to. Though lately a lot of people look at me more without makeup on because i'm going through rough acne trouble. And I still refuse to cover them. I only wear makeup when it's a special occasion or event. My skin is like super fair and freckly, so it's hard to find a makeup that lets my freckles shine through, while covering my pimples. I just don't wear it. I do wear moisturizer sometimes though.

  • Pudgy0pants@xanga

I wear it because I like to bring out my eyes, or cover something up.

  • jatriciapung

sigh... i just put on some mascara, blush, and lip gloss. then im good to go xD
