What You Should Know About Your Cover Up Foundation...
If you have sensitive skin, prone to acne its best you stay away from compact powder foundations/coverups. Yes, it may be OIL FREE.. but the problem with oil free compact powders is, they still contain as much or more oil than any other foundation. In order to seal the makeup down into being a solid it is held together by oils. So yes, it may be OIL FREE but that just simply means it does not contain as much as other compact powders.
If you are looking for anything OIL FREE use lose powder foundations. Bare minerals is a great coverup but mineral makeup can cause reactions to some people. Not every face is for mineral makeup. Some people when they first use mineral makeup they break out.. mineral makeup has reactants that your face may not accept until it is used to it. So just go for a normal lose powder. I find that Clinique is great for sensitive skin acne prone. Liquid foundation holds the most oil out of all three of these types. Best stay away from liquid foundation in all if you do have sensitive skin.Do you have oily skin? What makeup do you use and why?

realllllllyyyyy ? i got told that compact powders were good for oily/acne prone skin.
Also washing any make up brushes help prevent oils getting back into your skin. :] I usually dry up my skin after washing my face, then applying lotion of some sort. Hoping that it'll prevent acne. I wash quite frequently or when ever I get the chance to.
i use a matte moisturizer so my face it's so shiny on the bottom and then i use a regular matte MAC cover up.
i have oily skin, but i use liquid foundation (which oxidizes by the end of the day) and whenever i need extra coverage i use powder foundation as well.
never been much of a problem to me. just be aware of the fact that less is more - you WILL end up with a super caked-on face if you apply too much.
my face is super oily, i use a matte foundation and then a matte compact powder. I dont use the lose powder as much, and the women from Clinque suggested the compact powder versus the one in the photo in the blog
I have oily and dry skin. It just depends I guess. I use all kinds as long as it looks good.
I also have an oily skin and I use Sheer Cover Mineral foundation then a loose powder to make it matte. I have a bare minerals and I found talc. Isn't talc bad for your skin? newei, I have CG foundation and I didn't have that much prob on my skin but my complexion on photos are really weird.
I have oily skin and always had to reapply my pressed powder, wondering why I always looked so greasy. And then after a couple of applications, it caked up and got really gross. Thank you for explaining it! I switched to loose powder a year or two ago, and I just assumed my skin had gotten less oily, because it's been a major improvement.
I use Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer and put Make Up Forever's translucent powder on top. They are both amazing products, except it's super expensive :/
I haven't tried lose powder b4, but it always seem to hv pretty good reviews ~
bare minerals in my opinion is terrible for oily skin. i have oily skin and bare minerals made it 100 times worse. i have also heard of other people with oily skin who used bare minerals and it made it a lot worse. maybe bare minerals matte is better but i haven't tried it.
Not all compacted powders are bad, the one I use has shea butter to help compress it, it does tend to become loose easily but still not as big of a mess as regular loose powder.
@quotexobsession@xanga - I use matte, and it works alright for me. I don't think it's ever the reason why I break out. It helps if you apply primer first. It's also possible your skin doesn't react well with the ingredients they use.
everyday minerals is wayyyy better than bare minerals.. i recommend everyone give it a try. they have different formulas for different skin types, and it's pretty cheap. $10 for an amazing flat top brush, and $12 for a full size powder.
Loose*
thanks for the tip i'll try.
What in the world kind of mineral makeup are you using that's causing bad reactions in people's skin? If you are using a quality, 100% mineral makeup it will be ANTI inflammatory and help clear up your skin. Unfortunately a lot of "mineral" makeups are not 100% mineral, they just contain enough minerals to be labeled as a mineral makeup :(
