Should I Rock a Nude Lip?
Hey ladies,
I was never a lipstick or lip gloss girl - lip balm is all I needed and I am pretty cool with that. No color, no shine! Recently, I have been noticing that many of the YouTube gurus often complete their makeup looks with a somewhat nude, nude pink or nude peachy color lips (And often times, all I see is Nude). After watching all these makeup tutorials, I started wanting to get my 1st-ever nude lipstick - really really bad! I visited many companies' websites and made a few trips to the drugstore. With millions of choices available, I can confidently say that I was lost! I don't even know where to start looking or what will look good on me as most of them, you can't try it on.
"Obsessed" is totally an understatement in my case but at the end, I've decided to head over to the Mac Pro Store and let the professional pick out the right shade for me (And surprisingly, their lipstick wasn't as expensive as I thought and definitely falls under the cheaper end of department brand products). Long story short, the sales person picked out two colors for me, I totally don't remember the 1st one she showed me, as it looks 90% like I've crazy concealer on my lips BUT I did ended up purchasing the 2nd one, a color called "Hue". However, right after the purchase, my boyfriend made a comment about another lipstick that I was wearing- Cargo Lindsay Lohan - He said he "kind of" likes the pink color on me better and he needed to see more pictures of people wearing nude lipstick before he'll understand what’s the big deal out of it or at least I am making out of it ~
I guess my questions are 1) How would you wear a nude lipstick or would you even wear one and 2) Do you think I should/can rock the whole nude lipstick idea? (PS: I usually only wear complexion products such as foundation, powder and blush - nothing on my eyes AND I somewhat fall into the "fair skin" category, as in pasty and pale WITH jet black hair )

i loveeeeee this look. but i hate when girls use concealer to make their lips this color vs. a lipstick or lipgloss. why not give it a try! :)
i think it'd look good on you.
Nude lips are soo in season but i would wait until next season, it may be more accepted then.
Where i live if your lips are the same colour as your skin then you're considered a "chav" no matter how decent your outfit is.its stupid really. But i am waiting for Spring to rock this trend, i'll feel more comfortable about it then@alec_zandra@xanga - agreed about the concealer thing. that's why people stereotype others who wear this look
I was watching youtube video and this makeup artist said that nude lips is the natural colour of your lips. Some people can't pull off the nude lips like the model in the picture. Just experiment and give it a go!
I think it looks great on the model & would look great on you too .I prefer more color myself though.
On days when my lips are paler, they could pass off as a nude lip look. Only problem is that 1. People will keep asking about my health because they think I'm sick 2. If I went a little heavy on the dark eye make-up, I get labeled goth/lolita in addition to problem numero uno. So I'll have to say, some people can probably pull this off, but I for one am not one of these people as far as I know.
I DO like a more nude lip when the eyes are dark and smokey, but I hate the concealer lip look. If I do nude, I try to have a LITTLE bit of color. The trick is to find one that doesn't make you look like a zombie, which is never hot.
YES
when I go out that's the color I use, or a grape purple or coral, or that amazing old school red )
sexy. makeup tip: dark on top, light on the bottom. light on top, dark on the bottom. dont have everything in the same color.
yes! the nude look is awesome...i think it would look amazing on you if you had mascara possibly some dark eyeliner. If you are going to have nude lips and want them to look the best, try putting on some eye makeup (not a lot just a little drama) and then a little blush. My favorite nude lipstick that I have ever used is from MAC in the color "Myth" it is very pale but it looks great when you rub your finger over your lips to matte it out..it's creamy but stays on a long time and it doesn't really have a pink undertone, and is a little lighter but like I said it honestly looks great with dramatic eyes. Try it out! It's awesome!! :)
Nude lips are beautiful, but they usually need eye make up to balance them out. For everyday just use some subtle browns and for the evening try a smoky eye.
I'm pale too, and I look odd unless I balance out the nude lip, especially in pictures (it looks like I died).x.
if done right I'm sure every girl can have a nude lip.
try a few different ones out
make sure you exfoliate because the nude lip look usually can pick up on chapped or flaky lips.
love this look but only if you do dramatic eye makeup too. it looks awesome on the model, but i don't know if everyone can pull it off. i have pretty big lips (think angelina jolie, people say i look like her) and i don't know if i could pull it off. i feel like if you have big lips, there aren't really that many options because because no matter what it ends up looking kind of overdone. i don't want to look like a brats doll. lol.
as long as its subtle, i think it would be fine though.
I usually only wear a nude lipstick and mascara. It just looks a bit more put together than going completely without makeup.
I love this look. It can be really pretty. You can use more make up on your eyes with this kind of look.
I'd pair it with a subtle brown smokey eye, to keep the natural feel flowing, but it will make your eyes pop, instead of washing out your whole face. I like the look of a pale pink or peach more than just plain nude though, i have to say. no ones lips are naturally "nude" but pale pink and peach, definitely! even just taking a really thin, light lipgloss over your nude lipstick will make it look SO much more natural!
i used to have that shade from MAC! i loved it at the time but looking back at pictures from when i wore it, i'm glad i stopped haha. it didn't really go with my skintone, but since you had someone match you with a shade i'm sure it looks lovely on you!
Depends on the rest of your makeup... If you go heavy on the eyes, definitely go nude to light pink... But if you're more natural, you should ramp up the lip color.
I apply nude lipstick then clear lip gloss :)
I think the nude lip is nice during the day. But I definitely cannot pull it off at night, it makes me look washed out. Some people can though...depends on your skin tone/hair colour I guess
Nude lipsticks are nice! I'm sure you can pull it off! :D
Why don't you... just not wear anything on your lips?
BAM! You get nude lips, and for free!
I love nude lips, but these days, I'm into really bright pink lips! I think any women can pull off nude lips, as long as they are under the age of 35. Older women tend to look even older with nude lips.
