It's winter where I live, and bitter cold to boot. And as all women know, with the cold comes dry skin. Fear not, lovelies! Nature has provided a scrumptious solution.
Your skin is your body's largest organ, and it absorbs everything you put on it. My mom always told me to "never put anything on your skin that you wouldn't eat." I think she's right... but I don't know about you. I don't really want to eat my moisturizer! (Have you ever tried to read those ingredient lists? No thank you!) That's when I discovered coconut oil.
I have extremely dry, eczema prone skin, and I have never been so happy with a moisturizer in my life. I rub it on from head to toe after I shower at night (it's a little greasy), and I wake up with soft, happy skin. And what's more, it smells positively divine! It's gentle enough for the most sensitive of skin, and you really can cook with it!
What do you think. Would you ever try coconut oil?

Love it, I use it on my cuticles mostly. Amazing stuff.
omg where do they sell this?! :OO <3
@lafemme_melissa@xanga - I think I got mine at my local health food market, but they probably sell it at most grocery stores, too!
@BeautifulMess - thank you! :}
Do they have anything like this without coconut in it? I love putting natural stuff on my skin, but i really can't stand the smell of coconut.
@angelface_90@xanga - I've heard jojoba highly recommended, but have never tried it myself. here's a list of some cosmetic natural oils. http://www.care2.com/greenliving/choose-the-best-cosmetic-ingredient.html
Hope you find one that works for you!
ooooo add this to my grocery list! <3
omg thank you so much :D I"m totally gonna try to get some!
i use coconut oil on my hair.
This post was awesome!
I think I need to go out and get this now, I adore the smell of coconut.
I've tried coconut oil before and it worked WONDERS for my skin. This was about three years ago. I had skin that just never cleared no matter what I used, and once I started using coconut oil, it cleared up almost immediately.
coconut oil <3
my whole family makes coconut oil to rub on themselves, and it certainly does keep our skin smooth.
hmm, i am interested!
Oh my goodness I LOVE Coconut Oil. It's great stuff. I also use Jojoba Oil.
not really sure since i've never tried it but guess i'll have to try it to find out.
i do a tomato scrub every monday, wednesday and friday. its great for my skin and saves me money on buying facemasks and a trip to the spa.
No idiot, your skin doesn't absorb everything into your body.
Biology fail.
never tried it, but i'd be willing to. i like natural products. need regular moisturizer for my face though.
I have eczema too but I don't like using oils, I prefer cream.

haha i love it. i use it for cooking and if i have extra left over from greasing cookie sheets or something, i use it as a handrub.
