I've recently been playing around with eyeshadow colors I want to use for a special occasion. As I've been doing rounds of pairs/trio/quads of colors that I can match for a gray dress I'm wearing for a wedding, I came to think of the usual YouTube videos I've seen, the tutorial ones.
I wondered if there are colors which you just CANNOT match? All I know is that it's a bit on the tacky side to have eyeshadow that's the same color/shade as your top. That's the only cardinal rule I follow.
Can anyone tell me if there are two or more colors that even the best makeup artist can't artfully beautify? Or is it really with the blending and stuff? Give your advice on

I don't believe in rules when it comes to eyeshadow colours. Play around and be creative :)
I'm actually not a fan of eyeshadow, but I do believe it is okay to match with your outfit. I think what you really want to do is to use eyeshadow to accentuate your beauty and bring out your eyes. Don't go overboard (this is that part that I dislike about eyeshadow) and be subtle. If you're wearing a gray, I think a smokey eye would be great.
i would say do not contrast the colours if that makes any sense
e.g. do not blend blue and orange together etc
It's tacky to match your eyeshadow with your top? That's news to me!
purples and greens just don't work together... unless you want your eyes to look bruised.
I stick with shimmery browns and beiges.. I love to play around with purple too!
Not a lot of blue and purple... it can look like that lady from the Drew Carey show and that eyeshadow look creeps me out. However the picture for this post looks awesome! I would say match the outfit best you can with a color to make it pop.
