Getting Your Skin Ready For Winter
Winter is knocking on the door and it is time to get your skin ready for what the weather may have in store. The best thing is to remember that even though it may be cold, windy and below 30 degrees—the sun is still out. So always have a moisturizer with SPF, or better a tinted moisturizer.
With chilly weather, I tend to find that not only my skin but my hair tends to dry out. While living in California I never used conditioner but as soon as I was back on the East Coast I had to start using it again. With wind comes chapped lips, so always have a lip balm on hand! Moisturizer every day (if you’re not already in the habit) and condition your hair to protect it.

lots and lots of lotion
and i always have a bunch of lip balm handy too.
i just buy the lipsmacker packs and it lasts me all winter and longer (:
oh yes. chap stick & lotion are my best friend right now. but my hair is on its own. it stays dry around this time no matter what I do
I go through tons of conditioner in the winter and summer, because the sun dries out my hair, and my hair gets dry in the cold weather too, so....
Dry hands! I definitely recommend Neutrogena's Norweigan Formula hand cream -- it's really true that "just a dab heals dry skin"! A lot of lotions (and hand lotions especially) contain alcohol, which temporarily make your hands soft but even drier after an hour. I rely on this stuff every day.
@juliamegan - thanks for the tip! My biggest problem are also my dry hands.
Burts Bees lip balm- and moisturizing every night! I also buy a conditioning treatment to do every other week or so :)
For my lip balm, I use carmex and for my hand moisturizer I use Vaseline's hand and nail conditioning moisturizer. For my face I use Nutrogena's spf 15 moisturizor. I also make sure I carry kleenex with me in case of a runny nose and hand sanitizer.
So a summer moisturizer is different from a summer moisturizer? I have Neutrogena moisturizer with SPF, but it seems more sunblock-y than lotion-y.
@Meowmeowkimmaee@xanga - I think you mean 'winter moisturizer'.
@Keeko1@xanga - lol! my bad. yes i mean, is summer moisturizer different from winter moisturizer?
lmao. it doesn't go lower than 40 here regularly, in san diego.
the body shop has this aloe based chapstick that i love using during the winter because aloe is mainly used to heal a burning sensation. and i just apply a more rich aloe moisturizer to protect my skin from overdrying in the cold.
Vaseline 100% pure petroleum jelly. I use that for my face n lip
