  • Product Review: Rimmel Soft Kohl Kajal Eyeliner

Eyeliner is fantastic. Use as much or as little as you want; pile it on, wing it out, don't use it at all, it's totally personalizeable. Of course, like all products, it's important to find the right one for you.

I loooove thick eyeliner on both my top and bottom lids, paired tastefully with the rest of my eye makeup, of course. It's important for me to find an eyeliner that applies easily, isn't completely altered by my eyeshadow, and smudges just the right amount, as well as keeping on my babysitting budget. After running out of my Elizabeth Arden Eye Pencil in Kohlberry, I was desperate to find a new eyeliner, any eyeliner would do as long as I could keep my signature blackened eyes. Scanning through Target's makeup aisles, I came across Rimmel Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Liner in Jet Black. It was $3.50, so hey, it would do for now.

This eyeliner is decent at best. The black is very black, which is perfect for me. At first it goes on nicely, but once I start to put my first layer of eyeshadow on (L'Oreal Infinite Eyeshadow in Buttercup) it turns this weird dark silvery color. It smudges horribly as well, daily I get random dark lines on areas of my face not even near my eyes. It's also impossible to remove, from anywhere, when you try rubbing it off it only smudges out over a further area. Finally, it's not good for someone who sweats a lot. By the end of my 7 hour school day, my eyeliner looks more gray than black.

    My eyeliner, just applied. (above).

    After 7 hours.

Overall review: Rimmel's Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Liner stays true to color, but that's about the only benefit to this mediocre eyeliner. It smudges more than an eyeliner should and if you wanna use it with anything but itself, prepare to be disappointed. Save your money and get something nicer, or get something of the same price for a different brand. 4 out of 10.

Have you tried this eyeliner? Do you like Rimmel makeup?
