A hair detangler spray is essential when the weather starts cooling off. I don’t know about you, but the chilly and windy days wreak havoc on my strands, resulting in some serious knots and tangles. If you’re strapped for cash (and time), why not just make your own detangler? This recipe takes less than a minute to make!

You will need:

  • Empty spray bottle (you can use a standard 12 oz. or a travel size)
  • 2–3 tbsp. regular conditioner
  • Hot (not boiling) water
  • Optional: essential oil of your choice
Simply add 2-3 tablespoons of your regular conditioner to the spray bottle and add hot water. (I poured hot water into my water filter and then added it to the bottle.) The hot water works to mix the conditioner in the bottle, so it doesn’t end up clumping at the bottom. The oil is optional — some people like to add it for scent, but since most conditioners already have a scent, it’s not necessary. [via Beautylish]

Simply shake the contents and spray onto the ends of your hair to keep it looking soft and manageable this season! You can use it as a detangler or as a leave-in conditioner. I also recommend storing at room temperature — you may not want to leave it in your car or somewhere especially warm.

What kind of hair detangler do you use?
