I think that we can all agree that, when you have to wake up early in the morning, fifteen extra minutes of sleep really does matter. Choosing between fixing your hair and makeup in the morning and hitting the snooze button is a very serious choice that should be handled with care. More often than not, we all end up pressing snooze, getting a little bit of extra sleep and then feeling horrible when we get to work because we have raccoon eyes and frizzy hair. And that’s only half of the problem. When we do wake up early, we end up doing the same sock-bun or high ponytail and use the same eye shadow we’ve been using for the past two months. Well, in the hopes of inspiring someone to try something different, here are the top five hair and beauty trends on Pinterest right now that take less than 10 minutes to do!

The Hair Bow: this has to be one of my favorite hair trends that I’ve seen on Pinterest thus far. I’ve seen tons of tutorials that show you how to do this but my favorite one is shown below. Not only does it look nice, but if offers an alternative to the half-up ponytail that we always seem to wear.

Smoky Eyes: Now, I’m not just talking about the black smoky that either makes you look fabulous, or like you got punched in the face. I’m talking about the pop of color, shimmery, dramatic smoky eye that makes everybody look fabulous. Whether it be bright purple and glittery gold or a deep green color, this application works wonders. You can decide to get a little glammed up before going to work or you look dramatic as you head to dinner with you friends. Either way, it works.

Braids: French braids, fishtail braids, sailor braids, and waterfall braids have all been pinned from numerous websites. Although some take longer than others, the tutorial shown below is a quick fix that just about anybody can do in only a few minutes. The braid-around-the-bun is a classic look that’s still extremely stylish and can be worn on any occasion.

Bold Red Lips: Although red lips are no new trend, they certainly have lost their rep of being used only for dressy, classy affairs. Now, it’s okay to wear bright red lips to work, meetings, dinner dates or even grocery shopping if you want to. (I wouldn’t suggest putting on tons of makeup to go to the grocery store if you’re only picking up milk or something but I won’t stop you!)

Curls: Okay, so I know that I said that these trends would take less than ten minutes. I also know that in the back of your mind, you’re thinking “If it only took me ten minutes to curl my hair, I’d do it all the time.” However, there’s one item that can significantly lower the amount of time spent curling your hair – a curling wand! If you haven’t already invested in one, you need to go take a look. Not only is it so much easier than using a curling iron, (this tutorial will show it all!) your curls will come out ten times nicer! Also, look into picking up a couple packs of flexi-rods the next time you’re at store. Before you head to sleep, roll the rods similar to how you would with hair rollers, bend the sides and that’s it! When you wake up the next morning, you’ll have a head full of bouncy, gorgeous curls with hardly any prep work!

What are some quick hair styles or makeup tips that you have for people who don’t have a lot of time to get ready in the morning?
